Mechanical and clutch pencils for writing, drawing and sketching

A mechanical pencil keeps the familiar softness of graphite close at hand without having to sharpen a wooden pencil time and again. For small notes, precise linework or a loose sketch, different lead sizes let you choose how much presence your line has on the page.

Our mechanical pencils by Kaweco, rOtring and Koh-I-Noor range from fine 0.7 mm leads to substantial 5.6 mm leads, typically in HB or 2B. There are two main mechanisms. With a push-button mechanical pencil, each click advances the lead by a small amount. A clutch pencil holds the lead in place with a clutch mechanism; press to release it and the lead can move freely, allowing you to set the length yourself.
