With pencil leads, you can refill your mechanical pencil again and again. The separate graphite leads are available in different sizes and grades, allowing you to choose a lead that suits both your pencil and the way you write or draw.

Our range includes sizes from 0.7 mm to 5.6 mm, including 1, 2 and 3.5 mm. Finer leads are ideal for writing, notes and precise drawing. Thicker graphite leads offer more freedom for sketching, drawing and marking.

The grade also affects the result. Our range consists predominantly of HB and 2B. HB produces a firmer and generally lighter line, while softer 2B releases graphite more easily and therefore writes and draws darker.

What should you consider when choosing?
  • Size — always choose the exact size your mechanical pencil is designed for
  • Grade — HB gives a firmer, lighter line; 2B is softer and writes or draws darker
  • Fine leads — suitable for precise writing, notes and detailed drawing
  • Thick leads — ideal for sketching, drawing and marking

From a fine 0.7 mm lead to sturdy 5.6 mm graphite: with the right pencil lead, you can adapt your mechanical pencil to the work you want to do.

Frequently asked questions about pencil leads

Does every pencil lead fit every mechanical pencil?
No. The diameter of the graphite lead must exactly match the size your pencil is designed for.

What is the difference between HB and 2B?
HB is harder and generally produces a lighter, more precise line. 2B is softer, releases graphite more easily and therefore produces a darker line.

Which size do I need?
That depends on your mechanical pencil. Check the specified lead size before choosing new refills. A 2 mm mechanical pencil, for example, requires 2 mm leads.
